Charles "Ish" Engle

After a whopping 4 days of summer vacation, I went to Woo Poo U. During my Plebe year I got into some trouble loosely involving my girlfriend (Jo Ann Currey, O'Neill '89) and I was suspended for one-year. I went through a bit of a depression then (how many of you thought I'd actually marry her?), and started going by a nickname that Ted Nolan and David Salerius gave me: Ish. I've been Ish ever since. When I left for my "year off", I joined my parents in Pittsburgh for the spring and then we moved to Melbourne, FL, in the summer. I got to take a great trip to Germany during that time.About a week after returning to West Point, Jo decided that she and I shouldn't continue, and after a long depression and 3 more years of USMA, I graduated and went to Ft. Sill, OK, as a Field Artillery officer. During my time in, I met a wonderful woman (Susan) and we got married. In September of '96, I realized that I liked being around the Army a whole lot better than being in it, so I put in my paperwork and got out. I went to work doing Combat Simulation at Ft. Sill. That was a great job, as I basically played video games to help train soldiers! During my early months at the Battle Lab, my daughter Ada Lysette (we call her Lysa) was born.In 2003, after becoming very active in my church, I accepted the call to move to Frederick, OK and become the pastor of First Christian Church. I've been here four years now, and love it. I'm very involved in the community working in the EOC, as a sideline statistician for the HS football team, and with the local food bank and Minsterial Alliance.I look forward to seeing you all again next summer. Check out my church's web page at http://fccfrederick/.org if you're interested.
